PURPOSE:A hair tonic, containing an extract of mistletoe which is a herb medicine as an active constituent, safe for the human body without skin irritation and having very remarkable trichogenous and hair growth promoting effect by application. CONSTITUTION:A hair tonic obtained by using an extract of pulverized mistletoe (branch, leaf or treetop of Viscum album L. var. lutescens Makino or Loranthus yadoriki Sieb. of the family Loranthaceae) with a solvent, e.g. methanol, water or ethyl acetate, etc. The above-mentioned extract is preferably used in an amount of 0.1-5wt% expressed in terms of a dried material in a hair tonic composition. The extract of the mistletoe alone has remarkable trichogenous effect, but use together with an extract of Angelica pubescens Maxim., polygala root, senega, glossy privet, etc., provides hair tonic effect almost equal to or somewhat better than that of the above-mentioned extract. |
