PURPOSE:To compress volume of a KANA/KANJI (Japanese syllabary/Chinese character) conversion dictionary by effectively connecting a foreign language notation data of an foreign language spelling dictionary with a foreign language notation data of a KANA/KANJI conversion dictionary. CONSTITUTION:An inputting means 101 which instructs inputting and conversion of characters, a character staring means 102 which stores character strings and converting results, a segmentation means 103 which performs segmentation, a foreign language spelling dictionary 104 which stares pronunciation of a foreign language, a foreign lalnguage notation spelling and a sequential index representing an address far retrieving the foreign language notation spelling, A KANA/KANJI conversion dictionary 105 which stares KANJI notation, notation information, control code representing an address for retrieving the foreign language notation spelling and numerical value information, a conversion means 106 which if a foreign language exists in a segment, performs conversion into a foreign language notation spelling based upon the control code and numerical value information of the KANA/KANJI conversion dictonary and the sequential index of the foreign language spelling dictionary 104 and a displaying means 107 which displays character strings or conversion results on a display screen are provided. |
