A cartridge actuated bomb release mechanism or assembly in which malfunctioning is eliminated with the provision of a positive disconnect between the delay element body of the cartridge and the released forward plug that initially held ball detents in a locking relationship between wall openings of the cartridge chamber and the internally grooved piston sleeve to which a hatch opening block and bracket are attached or secured.
