PURPOSE:To shorten the occupation time of a transmission line and shorten the waiting time of a user by transmitting compressed image data using the maximum capacity of the transmission line. CONSTITUTION:Plural compressed image data are stored on disk devices S1-Sm and the compressed image data stored on the devices S1-Sm are sent at requests from plural receivers. At this time, an exchange EXT multiplexes and transmits the data from the devices S1-Sm by using the maximum capacity of the transmission line TL. On a reception side, the multiplexed data from the transmission line TL are separated by an exchange EXR and sent to the receivers. The receivers stores the sent compressed image data on corresponding disk devices R1-Rn and the corresponding decoders decode them at desired time. Thus, the compressed image data are sent in a short time to make the occupation time of the exchanges and transmission line short.
