CONTINUOUS MOTION SYNCHRONIZED PRESSURE-SENSITIVE LABELING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method and system for applying pressure sensitive labels to articles at a label applying station, in which the labels arc initially carried by a web. The articles are continuously advanced in a given direction past the label applying station, while the web is continuously advanced with the labels thereon. The labels are stripped from the web and these stripped labels are applied to the articles by advancing the stripped labels in the given direction to meet the articles at the label applying station. The speeds of advance of the articles and the web are continuously sensed, and the speed of advance of the web is adjusted to match the speed of advance of the articles.
