PURPOSE:To provide a bar code reader that is a device of coaxial type fundamentally and capable of using a polygonal mirror of low height in it and increasing the light quantity of reflected light to be introduced to a convergence lens. CONSTITUTION:This reader is of system to irradiate a bar code 12 with a laser beam 4 from a laser beam source 2 by scanning by a rotary polygonal mirror 10, and it is constituted so that the projecting axis 4a of the laser beam 4 to be projected on the polygonal mirror 10 and the light receiving axis 16a of the convergence lens 16 which introduces by converging the reflected light 14 from the bar code 12 to a light receiver 18 can be set in an almost coaxial state. Fixed type upper reflecting mirror 21 and lover reflecting mirror 22 which receive the reflected light 14 from the bar code 12 and reflect it toward the convergence lens 16 are provided at the upper and lower parts of the rotary plane of the polygonal mirror 10. |
