摘要 1378946 Universal joints ANSCHUTZ & CO GmbH 27 March 1972 [29 March 1971] 14335/72 Heading F2U A dynamically-tuned (see end of this abridgement) universal connection, between a high speed rotor 12, e.g. of a gyro or measuring instrument, and its shaft 10, comprises an intermediate member 24 therebetween, articulated to the rotor 12 and shaft 10 respectively about transverse axes B, C mutually at right-angles, by pairs of blade springs 20, 22, which form, in effect, spring hinges of a Hooke's joint; and an additional flat blade spring spider 38 is arranged transversely directly connecting the rotor 12 and shaft 10 for centring. The arrangement is such that linear forces acting in any direction between the rotor and shaft subject the springs predominantly to tension. In Fig. 1 the blade spring pairs 20, 22 are arranged in radial planes B, C, ninety degrees apart, the diametrically opposite springs of the pair 20 being received at mid-length in slots in lugs 14 projecting inwardly from the rotor 12, whilst those of the pair 22 are similarly received in outwardly projecting arms 18 of the shaft hub, both ends of all the springs 20, 22 being received in slots at opposite ends of the intermediate member 24. The centring spider 38, which may have an outer as well as an inner ring is clamped internally and externally between the halves of the shaft hub and rotor respectively which are divided in the Hooke's plane BC and held together by screws, the spider arms 38 passing with clearance through windows in the intermediate member 24. To ensure that the centre of gravity of the rotor system lies in the Hooke's plane BC, so that it is neutral to accelerating forces, the axial position of the centre of gravity can be adjusted by a central axial screw 36 in the intermediate member 24. In Figs. 4 to 8, not shown, the Hooke's bladesprings 20, 22 and centring spring 38 of Fig. 1 are combined into a single spring having radial spokes such as 38, but terminating outwardly in segments which have ends folded through a right angle in each direction to form the Hooke's springs 20, 22. In Fig. 9, not shown, the hub (916) of the shaft (910) is hollow and is arranged radially between a cylindrical intermediate member (924) and the rotor (912). The connection is described as being dynamically tuned, when for a particular speed of operation, the oscillation of the intermediate member about its transverse axes generates inertia forces which counterbalance the restoring force of the connecting springs. The spring constants and mass of the intermediate member are correlated for this purpose.
