发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the ratio of utilizing light and to eliminate unequal display by providing a light shielding layer on a substrate side facing color filters, thereby relieving the accuracy of sticking a color filter substrate and a TFT substrate. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal layer 10 is clamped between the TFT substrate 11 and the color filter 12. The TFT substrate 11 is constituted by forming TFTs(thin-film transistors) 2 consisting of polysilicon, etc., on a glass substrate 1 consisting of quartz glass, etc. The light shielding layer 4 is so formed as to cover the surface exclusive of picture element electrodes 3 by a metallic film consisting of, for example, Cr, etc., in the process of forming the TFTs 2. A protective film 5 is formed on the TFTs 2 after the formation of the TFTs 2. The color filter substrate 12 is constituted by forming the plural color filters 8, a protective film 7, transparent (picture element) electrodes 6. Incident light is made incident from the color filter substrate 12 side and is transmitted to the TFT substrate 11 side. The overlap parts of the light shielding layer and the picture element electrodes are made narrower than in the case of provision of the light shielding layer on the color filter substrate 12.
