PURPOSE:To provide a method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte battery so as to obtain a battery excellent in electric discharging characteristic in the non-aqueous electrolyte battery using the positive electrode active material obtained by improving a manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION:Composite oxide including lithium and manganese, particularly, oxide represented by a composition formula: LixMnO2 (wherein x=1) is mixed with MnOOH and LiOH as starting materials in atomic ratio of 1:1 of Mn:Li, followed by baking at temperatures ranging from 400 deg.C to 600 deg.C in the inert gas atmosphere where an oxygen concentration in inert gas becomes 0.5% or lower. Consequently, a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the resultant positive electrode active material is excellent in electric discharging characteristic. |
