PURPOSE:To enable to exchange the information among many stations at high speed without requiring swtiching elements, by providing the optical feedback means having modulation functions. CONSTITUTION:The light 2 having a plurality of wave lengths is radiated from the semiconductor laser 1 in which a plurality of longitudinal modes are oscillated, and these lights are fed to the optical transmission paths 4 corresponding to the lights having various wave lengths with the branch unit 3. Further, the light through the optical transmission parths 4a,...4c is detected at the optical detection means 5a,...5c placed at each terminal and returned to the transmission paths 4a,...4c again with the optical feedback means 6a,...6c having the function of modulation, and the light fed back is returned to the laser 1 via the branch unit 3 to change the output light of the laser 1 with the self-coupling effect of returned light. For example, if the light of wave length lambdaa is returned to the laser 1, the light of other wave length emitted from the laser 1 is suppressed and the light of wave length lambdaa only is emitted. That is, the signal of negative polarity of output of the means 5a from the terminal A only is fed to the terminals B and C to realize the exchange among many stations at high speed. |
