<p>Title cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 and R11 each may be H, OH, or Cl; or R1 may be H, alkyl, aryl, CH2NO2, CH2NH2 and R11 is OH). Prepn. is from the corresp. diketone by crystn. from H2O or aqs. MeOH/EtOH to give R1=R11=OH; by treatment with PCl3 or SOCl2 to give R1=R11=Cl; by treatment with alkyl or aryl Mg halide to give R1=alkyl or aryl and R11 = OH; by treatment with nitromethane and a basic catalyst to give R1=CH2NO2 and R11=OH; redn. converts the CH2NO2 to CH2NH2; by redn. of the R1=R11=Cl cpd. with H and Raney Ni to give R1=R11=H The R1=R11=OH cpd. is also obtd. by hydrolysis of the corresp. tetracarboxylic acid alkyl ester.</p> |
