PURPOSE:To obtain the subject enzyme useful as a diagnostic reagent for severe hepatopathy, congenial amino acid dysbolism, etc., utilizing a microorganism by culturing the microorganism, belonging to the genus Arthrobacter and capable of producing argininosuccinate lyase. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Arthrobacter and capable of producing argininosuccinate lyase [e.g. Arthrobacter globiforms IFO 12137 (ATCC 8010)] is cultured in a culture medium to produce and accumulate the objective enzyme in the resultant culture. The prepared enzyme is subsequently collected. The culturing is preferably carried out at about 30 deg.C for 10-30hr by using L-citrulline as a nitrogen source and simultaneously regulating the initial pH to 6-8 according to the submerged spinner culture with aeration, etc. |
