PURPOSE:To improve high strength, high toughness and environmental stability resistance in a high-temperature state by providing the surface of a carbon layer having embedded heat-resistant reinforcing fibers with a specific coated non-oxidizable layer and a specific surface coating film layer formed in an integrated way on the surface of non-oxidizable layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a parent material layer consisting essentially of carbon, having embedded heat-resistant reinforcing fibers is provided with a coated non-oxidizable layer composed of an inorganic material having higher oxidation resistance than the heat-resistant reinforcing fibers and a surface coating film layer having high oxidation resistance to give a fiber reinforced composite material. This composite material produces oxidation resistance of the heat-resistant reinforcing layer and the parent material layer based on the heat-resistant reinforcing fibers and the triple structure of the parent material layer consisting essentially of carbon, the non-oxidizable layer and a surface coating film layer, the characteristics of the heat-resistant reinforcing fibers in an oxidizing atmosphere can be improved and strength, toughness and oxidation resistance in a high-temperature state improved. |
