PURPOSE:To obtain an electroviscous fluid having the excellent features of polyaniline and applicable to practical use by using as the disperse phase inorganic or organic compound particles coated with polyaniline. CONSTITUTION:This electroviscous fluid comprises a dispersion of inorganic or organic compound particles coated with polyaniline. The coated particles can be produced by, for example, the oxidative polymerization of a water-soluble salt of aniline by using an oxidizing agent. As the particles, various inorganic or organic particles can be used; in particular, particles having an adsorbent surface are effectively used. Such a coating with polyaniline can be easily formed by the oxidative polymerization of aniline. The coating of particles with polyaniline can be adjusted by the concentration of aniline, the size and percentage of the particles, etc. The response characteristics of the electroviscous fluid will also vary depending upon the proportion of the coating. |
