PURPOSE:To provide the subject material having a high specific heat in a wide range of cryogenic temp. and excellent mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION:This material comprises a rare earth element alloy comprising 50-90atom% at least one rare earth element selected from the group consisting of Er, Ho, Dy, and Tb and 10-50atom% at least one element of the VIII group in the periodic table consisting of Ni, Co, Ru, Pd, Rh, Ir, Os, Pt, and Fe. Since the material has a high specific heat in a wide range of cryogenic temp. and high mechanical strengths and can be formed into a foil or coil, the flow resistance of a cooling medium can be reduced when compared with a conventional powdered cold-storage material and an excellent cooling effect can be provided for a long time. |
