<p>A liquid-laden gas is introduced into a lower chamber for primary separation of the liquid, and dry gas withdrawn from the upper portion. Brine is continuously introduced into the upper portion countercurrent to the gas flow. The liquid vapour laden gas and brine are contacted in countercurrent flow in a number of gas liquid-vapour separation stages in an intermediate portion across the stage and in countercurrent flow between the stages from the brine overflow from the next upper stage. Provision is made for withdrawing the brine and/or other fluid separated from the gas from the lower portion and remove the brine and/or other fluid without regeneration or recycling to the apparatus.</p> |
