<p>PURPOSE: To prevent destructive pressure buildup at an equipment side to which a fluid coupling is connected by adding a pressure release mechanism to function as a pressure bleed valve in a quick disconnect fluid coupling comprising mutually engaging male and female coupling elements. CONSTITUTION: A quick disconnect fluid coupling 34 for a liquid-cooled preprogrammed card for an aircraft communication or navigation system is made up of male and female coupling elements 30, 32. The female element 32 comprises an annular member 36 with stepped diameter portions, and an annular valve body 58 is fitted liquid-tight in the larger inner diameter portion. A valve 80 is accommodated in the annular valve body 58 pressed by a coil spring 86. The male element 30 comprises an outer annular member which includes an annular retainer 114 fixed to the inside end and an annular valve sleeve 116 fixed to the outside end of the outer annular member. The valve sleeve 116 has a valve member 130 integrally formed with the retainer 114, which pushes the valve 80 open.</p> |
