1285654 Gasifying fuels UNION RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLEN KRAFTSTOFF AG 16 Feb 1970 [14 Feb 1969] 7290/70 Heading C5E Solid or liquid carbonaceous fuels are degasified in a fluidized bed and the product coke, tar and gas are completely gasified in a suspended bed with additional heating, some at least of the heat required in both beds being supplied by indirect heat exchange. The suspended bed comprises a moving bed of a dilute turbulent mass of finely divided solids, and the fluidized bed an undulating bed of a dense mass of similar solids, e.g. coke steam or CO 2 may be supplied to the fluidized bed, and air or O 2 to one or both beds. The beds may be indirectly heated by steam, flue gas or coolant helium from a nuclear reactor, or by a melt bath, which may be in direct contact with the bed, and may heat the steam or CO 2 or fuel on their way to the bed. A melt bath may be located between the beds for heating products passing from the fluidized to the suspended bed. |
