This is two embodiments of a push-button switch. The first embodiment having a cover (12) with a top having an underside and a through opening. The push-button switch includes a button subassembly (24) attached to the underside and engaging the through opening. The cover (12) also has tabs (84) extending from each side which have a locking element (102) extending from the inner surface of each tab which engages a slot (100) formed on each side of the base of the push-button switch to hold the cover (12) and the base (14) together. The second embodiment utilizes a pivot arm (112) and an adjustable ratchet (110). These two elements are used to adjust the gap between the fixed (16, 18) and movable contacts (20).
