The present invention provides methods of diagnosing diseases such as cystic fibrosis using an allele specific multiplex polymerase chain reaction system as illustrated by the electrophoresis gels and densitometry tracings. In addition, kits useful for diagnosing diseases such as cystic fibrosis are provided.
