Plastic stopper for a container has a flat cover part (2) which develops into a cylindrical wall section (3), under which a securing ring (5) is moulded, with tabs (6) which fit under an outward projection (7) of the container. The tabs are formed by ultrasonics, using a sonotrode to soften the ring material which is pressed into grooves of a metal tube inserted between the stopper olive (9) and the ring.
