The foam is produced by mixing water with the molten bitumen under pressure and then releasing the pressure so that the water vaporizes. Examples of mixtures are given containing 2À8, 3À5 and 3À8% bitumen. The bitumen described is of 90 penetration quality. The soil is preferably treated when at its fluff point, i.e. at the moisture content which corresponds to the lowest density.
