Plasma welding of thick plates - by preheating to reduce thermal conductivity

Plasma welding of 4-20 mm thick plates becomes possible if the thermal conductivity of the workpiece material is made lower by preheating, pref. by setting up an electric arc between the plate and an anode when the plate is also cleaned and freed from oxide layers.
