A system for comparing date. recorded on two record media 13, 15 comprises a source 1 supplying fluid under pressure to two sensing stations 3, 5 and an exclusive OR fluid logic element 7 controlled by the sensing stations. The index positions on the record media may be sensed simultaneously, or row-by-row, or column-by-column, and a logic element 7 is provided for each index position sensed at a time. The presence of a hole in medium 13 produces a power jet stream in fluid amplifier 29a and a control jet stream in amplifier 29b. Similarly a hole in medium 15 produces a power jet in amplifier 29b and a control jet in amplifier 29a. If the data sensed from corresponding positions in the record media are different, an output is obtained in duct 41 to operate an error indicator and/or a feed control device or sorting mechanism. Chambers 53a, 53b delay the power jet streams until after the control jet streams have been established.</p> |
