PURPOSE:To detect surely the passage of the copy by a method wherein a step to where a rear end of the copy is dropped upon passing therethrough is provided on a half way of a copy transferring way and a detector detecting the dropping of the copy is provided in an area of the step. CONSTITUTION:When an initiating switch is pushed, stepping motors 9, 24 are rotated and a separating roller 22 cooperating with a brake plate 27 sends out the lowermost copy on a carrier table 21 to a copy reading passageway 4 through a trianglular space 44 provided on a transferring way 40. Then, when a front end of the copy being passed through a paper feeding roller 5 is detected by a photoelectric element 15, both of the motors 9, 24 are stopped. During this reading operation, when a rear end of the copy is released from the separating roller 22 and is arrived at the triangular space 44, the rear end thereof is dropped by gravity and a photoelectric element 46 receives light of a light source 47, thereby, passage of the rear end of the copy may be derected. |
