Final compost rotting - using fresh air passing over side surfaces of initially rotted compost clamp with exhaust air extracted from top of clamp

To rot compost, gathered into a clamp (1), fresh air is passed over the side surfaces of the compost clamp (1), and exhaust air is extracted from the upper end of the clamp by suction. Also claimed is an assembly with a covering hood (2) shrouding the spread compost in a clamp (1). The exhaust air is pref. extracted by suction, or is thermally expelled and extracted through a fan (5) which generates an underpressure. The fresh air is delivered to the base of the clamp (1). The clamp (1) is covered by a shrouding (2). The exhaust air is passed through a biofilter (8) and/or a washer to deodorise it. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for further rotting of degradable material, especially from housing estates, after it has been through an intensive rotting phase. The material is processed with a reduced air consumption.
