The contact of the switch (3.1) controlling front and rear fog lamps (1) is ganged to a second contact (3.2) which activates a device (2) setting an upper limit (e.g. 50 km/h) to the speed of the vehicle. Overspeeding with the fog-lamps switched-on causes a visual or audible alarm to be given and brakes to be applied. The same switching operation may bring up on the speedometer dial a red ring around the max. speed allowed by traffic regulations. ADVANTAGE - The driver can proceed through fog, falling snow or rain without needing to operate an additional speed-limiting switch or to be distracted by the speedometer.
