Optical cable (OE) comprises at least one optical fish (LW1, LW2) embedded in a filling material (FM), which itself is enclosed by a protective sheath, pref. am amorphous, glassy theroplastic, esp. polycarbonate or polyamide. The protective sheath (SH) is solid in the inner zone (B1) and cellular in the outer zone (BA). During mfr. the optical fibre(s) (OE) passes through the extruder head and the filler material (FM) is introduced into the protective sheath (SH). Foaming of sheath (SH) occurs during extrusion. USE/ADVANTAGE - For transfer of information. Internal mechanical of thermal stresses are avoided during extrusion.
