<p>A device for detecting the position of a body movable along a predetermined path, in particular suitable for detecting the position of a sliding roof of a vehicle, comprising an element (4) which is part of the body or is coupled to the body and moves with it, provided with one or more openings (5) which move along a predetermined path during movement of the body, and at least one light-radiating transmitter (1) and at least one light-sensitive receiver (2), communicating with each other in particular positions of the element via a light path extending through the openings.
