The invention relates to an apparatus for purification, by purely thermal incineration, for gaseous effluents, of the type with an additional heat supply, with gaseous fuel and with preheating by recovery with the aid of a primary tubular exchanger (3) which is concentric with the cylindrical combustion chamber (6). The apparatus according to the invention comprises flow means (1, 2) for the polluted gases inside the tubes (3) of the exchanger and means, such as deflectors (7, 7'), for imparting to the purified gases emerging from the combustion chamber (6) a helical movement around said combustion chamber (6), passing through the remaining free cross-section between said tubes (3).
