PURPOSE:To protect a metal or the like from hydrofluoric acid by adding a group IIIA or IVB element of the periodic table to a system in which hydrofluoric acid is present. CONSTITUTION:A group IIIA or IVB element of the periodic table or a compound thereof is added to a system in which hydrofluoric acid is prevent or is produced by an amount (mole) about 0.5-10 times the amount of the hydrofluoric acid. B, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Ti or Zr is used as the group IIIA or IVB element. Water or alcohol is used as a solvent. a metal to be protected from hydrofluoric acid may be iron or copper. |
