An N-acyl-N-phenyltetrahydrophthalamic acid derivative represented by general formula (I), a process for producing the same, a herbicide containing the same as the active ingredient, an imidoyl chloride derivative as an intermediate for producing the same, and a process for producing the chloride derivative, wherein R<1> represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl, haloalkyl, haloalkenyl, haloalkynyl or cyanoalkyl; R<2> represents lower alkyl or lower haloalkyl; and R<3> represents lower alkoxy, lower alkenyloxy, lower alkynyloxy, lower alkoxyalkoxy, (un)substituted benzyloxy, lower haloalkoxy or lower alkoxycarbonylalkoxy. The herbicide is very useful because it can be widely applied to upland field, lowland field, orchard, pasture, lawn, forest and non-crop land, and is highly safe for crops. <CHEM> |
