1318912 Railway ballast tamping machines F PLASSER 14 July 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 34161/ 70 Heading E1G A motorised tamping tool unit for a railway ballast-tamping machine comprises at least one pick holder 18 which depends from a shaft 17 on a support 12 and is vibrated by a hydraulic motor 14 on the support, the support 12 being progressively rockable-e.g. by jack 26 about a horizontal axis 13 to squeeze the vibrating pick 18' towards a sleeper 4. As shown a shaft 17 carrying a pair of laterallyadjustable pick holders 18 is mounted in a casing 12 which is freely pivotally suspended on a motor-driven shaft 13 and is positioned by jack 26. Within the casing a guide arm 24 rigid with shaft 17 is oscillated by a slide block 23 rotatably mounted on an eccentric portion of the shaft 13. The shaft 13 and jack-pivot 28 are mounted on a column 11 forming part of a height-adjustable unit, Fig. 1 (not shown) on a track-maintenance machine. Such machine may include track lifters (9) and monitoring devices. Numerous combinations of hydraulically-oscillated tamping units are suggested, Figs. 4-7 (not shown) in many of which the units can be swung about vertical pivots (30), or driven in pairs from common motors (14).
|
