<p>1332690 Wire strippers IDEAL INDUSTRIES Inc 22 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 50148/70 Heading H2C A wire stripper 10 consists of a pair of wireclamping blades 12, 14 and a pair of stripping blades 16, 18 mounted on a pair of levers 20, 22 which are pivotally connected together by a pivot pin 24. Handles 26, 28 are attached to levers 22, 20 by means of pins 34, 36 positioned in holes in levers 20, 22 and arcuate slots in the handles. A latch plate 50 is attached at one side to lever 20 by the pins 34. On the other side of the latch plate 50 is a ridge 58 next to which there is a latch button 64 positioned in an opening in the lever 22. When pressure is initially applied to urge the handles together, the blades 16, 18 are allowed to penetrate the insulation before the levers separate, as movement of the levers is prevented initially by button 64 bearing against ridge 58. On further pressure on the handles, the plate 50 bends away from lever 22 thus allowing button 64 to pass over the ridge 58, and the levers to separate. The button 64 then bears against the other side of the ridge, preventing the levers from closing, and therefore allowing the wire to be removed.</p> |
