PURPOSE:To provide the color liquid crystal display device which prevents the color fading and discoloration of color filters consisting of org. materials and prolongs the life of the color filters and with which the display grade is improved. CONSTITUTION:A protective film 20 which covers the color filters 11 and covers nearly the entire surface of the color filter forming surface is formed on the color filters 11 formed on a microlens substrate 6 or a transparent substrate 12 constituting the liquid crystal display element. A silicon oxide film or silicon nitride film is used as the protective film 20. As a result, the protective film 20 having an excellent oxygen barrier property and excellent step coverage is formed and the generation of the color fading and discoloring of the color filters 11 is suppressed. In addition, the bleeding of ionic impurities out of the color filters 11 is suppressed. |
