PURPOSE:To adjust the image density accurately. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body 21 includes a drum base 21a and photo-sensitive substance layer 21c, and between them an electroconductive coating layer 21b is provided for adjusting the reflectance for the incident beam of light. The outputs of a photo-receiving element 51 when light from a light emitting element 52 of a toner density sensor 53 is cast on a toner image for testing formed on the sensitive body 21 and its portion where no toner image is formed, are compared with the respective corresponding reference data, and on the basis of result from comparing, an image former is controlled so as to adjust the image density. The light emitting element 52 emits light of a certain wavelength which penetrates the sensitive body layer and is reflected by the coating layer. |
