PURPOSE:To obtain a beautiful document in which a character and a ruled line are well-balanced in a document in which both of them are mixed by varying the size of a segment of a ruled line, etc., and printing it by the style of handwriting, size and the density information of a character being present in an area. CONSTITUTION:By the style of handwriting of a character and the size of the character, ruled line size 5 is set, and it is set so that the larger the density rate 6 of the character is, the larger the ruled line size 5 becomes. In such a state, in the case the automatic selection of the ruled line size 5 is designated, a ruled line area in a document area is recognized. Subsequently, the kinds (Ming type, boldface type, style of handwriting, style of a textbook, etc.,) of the style of handwriting in the ruled line area are recognized, and also, in the case several kinds of styles of handwriting are mixed, that of the maximum number of characters is selected.
