PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording system which scarcely generates a noise and can be made to high density by irradiating a recording layer with light through a recording area provided on a light shielding layer, so that the width of a high temperature area heated to a temperature or above for which the state of the recording layer can be varied exceeds the width of the recording area. CONSTITUTION:Laser beams 30 are radiated from a substrate 12 side and a part them is interrupted by a light shielding layer 14, and the other is radiated to a recording layer 18 through a recording area 24. In this case, by increasing moderately the power of the laser beam, the width of a high temperature area 36 becomes a little wider than the width of the recording area 24. Accordingly, the shape of an inverted magnetic domain 38 becomes nearly a rectangle, no noise is generated, and also, the inverted magnetic domain 38 comes to be hardly overlapped, so high density is available. |
