PURPOSE:To provide a color filter which can be made thin and has flat surface and to provide a liquid crystal display device using this color filter. CONSTITUTION:This color filter is obtd. by repeatedly disposing filter layers R, G and B of three colors on a transparent glass substrate 1 in a manner that parts of adjacent filter layers are overlapped to form a light shielding part 2 projecting in the border of filter layers. In this color filter, recessed part 10 formed between the light shielding parts is compensated with a transparent coating layer 11. The liquid display device is obtd. by successively depositing an oriented film and a liquid crystal on the surface of this color filter. |
