The subject of the invention is a device intended to break a certain number of kaolin samples in order to determine an average breaking strength. Referring to Figure 2, the bars are placed on the ramp (3) fitted with a lid (1) and with a resistant component (13) then dispensed one by one by the cylinder (3). A jar (8) is placed softly on the bar by means of a cam (18) and a motor (19). A pump (17) fills the jar (8) through a flow meter (14). The weight of the water in the jar (8) causes the bar to brake. At this instant, the jar (8) is emptied into the tank (12) via a pump (15) until the level probe (16) closes the pump (15). Then the motor (19) moves the assembly back up so that a new cycle can started. <IMAGE>
