A friction operating torque transfer element such as a clutch plate (1), has a hub connected to a lining plate, and two friction rings whose ID is greater than the OD of the lining plate. Several circular spring segments are arranged axially between the lining rings, carrying the rings and axially sprung against each other. Each segment has essentially radial vanes cut out, bent towards the adjacent spring. At least a number of these lie against the planar region of the other segment. The segments are fixed via step rivets to the lining plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - Axially sprung clutch plate with no requirement for bedding in, avoids settling losses in springs.
