Paint is fed by a feed device to the paint roller, the feed device consisting of a combination of a drip roller which immerses in a paint storage container to pick up paint by adhesion, and a controlled feed roller which takes paint from the dip roller. The paint roller has a dia. of 400 mm or less, and the paint mechanism comprising paint roller, controlled feed roller, dip roller and paint storage container is contained in a cassette. The controlled feed roller is formed as a rotor-engraving cylinder with a doctor. The dip and controlled feed rollers are so formed that the rotation speed is variable. USE/ADVANTAGE - To reduce splashing during painting of cylindrical hollow bodies which occurs with spray painting.
