A fishing reel has a detachable cover 14 for closing a side of a reel body 2. The reel body 2 includes engaging pieces 18, while the cover 14 includes engageable elements 19. The cover 14 is movable between a first position for tight contact with the reel body 2 to close an interior of the reel body 2, and a second position rotated a predetermined angle from the first position about a lateral axis of the reel body 2.
