The seat arrangement has a pair of lower rails (2) for attachment to the floor, with each rail possessing an opening (2d). A pair of upper rails (4) for attachment to the vehicle seat (3) is displaceably held by the openings in the lower rails. A pair of plate elements (13) is fastened to the lower rails and covers at least part of each opening. Each upper rail has a pair of projecting sections which engage in a pair of grooves in the plates. ADVANTAGE - Prevents a passenger's foot becoming caught in the lower rail gaps which are attractive in appearance and have good strength and hardness.
