Renovation of sewage pipe in region of branch pipe - lines pipe with fibre mat impregnated with synthetic resin

An underground main sewage pipe (12) is connected to a house by a branch pipe (2). The region around the joint between the branch pipe and the main pipe is renovated by means of a two layer sleeve (4). The sleeve consists of an inner layer formed by a fibre mat (7) impregnated with a synthetic resin and an outer layer formed by a waterproof plastic film (6). The fibre mat is applied to the bore of the main pipe by means of a rubber sleeve (8) which is radially expanded by a pressure medium in a chamber (13) formed between the rubber sleeve (8) and an inner rigid support tube (10). The fibre mat is enclosed in a sleeve which is folded in on itself. By applying pressure to the interior of the sleeve the fibre mat is forced into the bore of the branch pipe and the pressure is maintained until the synthetic resin has hardened. USE/ADVANTAGE - Renovation of sewage system. The method avoids the need of removing old pipes and replacing them.
