The insulation material, with high thermal insulation qualities has a foam structure and fibres in thread form with a character where the bonding agent is deposited on the fibre surface. Also claimed is a mfg. process where the fibres are initially mixed with water and dehydrated bonding agent is added. They are mixed together homogenously in a pressure mixing chamber (1) in an inert gas atmos. such as CO2. The mixt. is bonded by the pressure below the chamber (1) with subsequent drying. The bonding agent is a mineral material such as plaster and/or cement and/or silicate of a calcium or alkali material and/or organic and/or synthetic binders. The fibre material is a mineral fibre such as glass or rock wool and/or an organic fibre such as cotton, cellulose and/or synthetic fibres. The gas content is 20-80 vol.% and the material has a granulate form. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material for thermal insulation applications, has a good mechanical strength.
