The plasma display panel has a formed matrix of discharge regions, with a top glass plate (10) having a number of strip anodes (11) and barrier ribs (12). Charge electrode strips (14) are formed on a base of glass (13) and are at right angles to the anodes. The charge electrodes are overlaid with a dielectric layer (15) coupled to external capacitors.
