A wheelchair 11 which can be dismantled for storage has a body which includes two side panels 12, 13 and a backrest and footrest 14 which are of moulded composite sandwich construction. Each side panel 12, 13 has a recess 18 formed therein which can accommodate a rear wheel 19 of the wheelchair for storage when the wheelchair is dismantled, and the backrest and footrest 14 may also be stored, when the wheelchair is disassembled, parallel to the plane of the side panels by means of sockets (61, 62, 63, 64, Fig 3) which receive pins (41, 42, 51, 52) on the backrest or footrest.
