A METHOD OF PRODUCING AN ARTICLE OF PLASTICS MATERIAL

A thin film 6 of a plastics material is applied to the surface of an article 1 moulded from a plastics material. A tool 4 is used to apply the film while the article is at an elevated temperature. The tool 4 is configured so that as the tool applies the film to the article the surface of the article is deformed, being fixed in an arcuate manner. As shown the tool 4 comprises two spaced parallel plates 5 with curved welding surfaces and the article is a video cassette box. The thin film 6 is welded to the upper surface of the box by peripheral welds 7.
