PURPOSE:To prevent overrun of engine upon down shift under high speed travel by varying the target signal and limiting the input rotary speed within setting level upon exceeding of the input rotary speed of stepless speed changer over a setting level. CONSTITUTION:Setting torque ratio detecting means 3 for producing a setting torque ratio signal with correspondence to the setting position of M (advance) range of shift lever 8 freely settable of the torque ratio of stepless speed changer 2 is provided. While target signal setter 4 for receiving a setting torque ratio signal and a car speed signal and producing a target signal for controlling the stepless speedchanger 2 is provided to produce a shift signal from a shift signal generator 5 with correspondence to the target signal and the input pulley rotary speed signal thus to control a pulley controller 6. The target signal setter 4 is constructed to produce a target signal modified not to exceed over a setting level when the input rotary speed to be operated on the basis of the setting torque ratio signal and the car speed signal will exceed over the setting level. |
